Primary School Tutor

Welcome to my tutoring services! Are you looking for comprehensive support tailored to your child’s needs?
With over 20 years of experience as a qualified primary teacher, I am dedicated to empowering students at every stage of their learning journey, from laying strong foundational skills to supporting through Year 6 SATs preparation.
I also teach French, Spanish and German from the youngest primary year groups up to GCSE level, ensuring a strong foundation in the understanding of the grammar and vocabulary of the target language, confidence when speaking, fun, and a positive attitude to language learning.
With my experience of teaching children with a variety of SEND needs, my mission is to help children overcome challenges they may face in class, fostering a positive and enjoyable learning experience. I have considerable experience of working with neurodiverse pupils and those with school-based anxiety. If your child loves animals, feeding our chickens and ducks and meeting our cats can overcome anxiety and provide regulating movement breaks to enhance learning.
I enjoy working with home-educated children, following their interests and tailoring their specific lessons, combining ‘traditional’ school subjects with art and craft, languages and animals.
Whether it’s face-to-face or online lessons, I provide tailored tutoring, fostering confidence and enjoyment.

In Isla’s words, “Whether you are learning at home or at school, if you are more confident, you’ll enjoy your learning more: if you enjoy your learning more, you’ll feel more confident!”

Isla also has considerable experience working with neurodivergent pupils with autism and ADHD, children who find school difficult to access due to special needs and anxiety, and children who are home educated, where the joy is following their interests and adapting to their way of learning.

How we teach

We take a flexible approach to teaching that allows us to tailor sessions to your child’s needs and interests, whether they are facing particular challenges, have SEND needs or would benefit from challenges not provided in school.

Our aim is always to create a positive and enjoyable learning experience as we find this leads to more knowledge being retained by our students, which in turn fosters a greater level of confidence in themselves and their abilities.

We offer tutoring both online and in person, 1:1 and in small groups.
