GCSE exams 2019 – a doddle?
Are you ready for your exams? Maybe or maybe not. However, there is still plenty of time to make it a success. You need to start taking action and generate a detailed personal time table including the weekends and holidays. This should include a healthy balance of enjoyable/relaxing activities and study times slots with varying study techniques. Such a schedule ensures that you include all your GCSE subjects but also allows your mind to refresh and to grow so that your brain implements the subject knowledge firmly. It also shows you how committed you are, and you do not have to worry about missing any preparation. Statistically one needs to study a topic at least five times with varying approaches to be confident in it. Here are some very useful studying techniques.
Mindmaps
Make them colourful and big and pin them onto your walls and ceiling. You can see the content several times every day.
Flash cards
Use your siblings, parents, grandparents, friends etc. to test you on your subject knowledge. However, you need to make those cards first.
Youtube video clips
There is a vast a number of excellent video clips and webpages you can access to revise from. E.g. Bill Nye the Science Guy – enjoyable with lots of fundamental principles, Mathsgenie.com – lots of short revision video clips and exercises and answers. BBC bitesize. between all of these you’re bound to find the information you need to excel in you exams.
Past papers
all exam boards have plenty of past papers on their webpage. Start to solve questions by writing down the solution method only without plugging in the numbers. Then go to the mark scheme and check your solution. That saves time, accelerates learning and boosts your confidence.
